Worked 18 years for my first employer: Van Rietschoten & Houwens. Started with building printed circuit boards, after that a few administrative roles. Made quite a step to the planning team of the Marine department. At those days the Walrus and Sea Dragon submarines were built for which I did quite some planning work. At the planning I made some programs on an Apple II computer, the very first step of my ICT carreer. After getting acquainted with IBM Application System, I made the switch to the ICT department.
At the ICT department, my ICT carreer went fast. Started with converting COBOL programs from a Burroughs machine to an IBM mainframe, and shortly after that I became Systems Programmer. I did quite a lot of different things; building application templates for CSP-COBOL-SQL, management and automation of the development environment. Pretty fancy stuff we made those days.
